According to the windows search and by manual inspection there is only one folder "id software" and it contains only savegames and the files "config.spec" (0 Bytes) and "wolf.cfg" (6 kbytes). The last file contains the assignments of the keys of the keyboard to the game functions; nothing specific to the country. All other game files are in the user-chosen installation folder.
So, in my opinion there is nothing in these files that can explain the fact that the game runs normally without trainer but crashes to the desktop while using it.
Especially, the game did not crash on my PC when choosing "options", but I have XP home. Perhaps your problem is related to the server version?
Einen schönen Tag noch
I like it, that the german "bastard-versions" of this art of games won't be supported. Why? Because this versions are stupid enough. They mustn't be supported to pray the laws of the stupid organization named USK.
Hint to all: Don't buy german shooters, except you are sure, that they are not cut.
Why buying a cut game for the full price? Stupid, isn't it? Sure, it is!

On that note anyone have a save game at the top of the Castle?
That's what I experienced, too. But now I found a working trainer+4 for the German 1.1 version of Wolfenstein ( 0.91.28.7025) and here is the link:
Since there's no audio confirmation use Alt-Tab in Wolfenstein to confirm that options are active by looking on the trainer display panel. Be aware, sometimes the trainer quits itself without crash but generally it works and saved my ass during the fight with the level boss in the castle.
Hope this will help the other "Germans" around here.
and the only one i found is still crashing the game when activating the trainer
