Wheras coming onto a forum for a game and then classing it as lame as the OP did is 'M' for Moronic.

I FINALLY finished the whole GOTY version about a fortnight ago and ended up having total gameplay of somewhere arounf 800 HOURS !

It wasnt Fallout or Fallout 2 in terms of the story. Thankfully in New Vegas they got some of the old spark and better story. And if you think a game is lame its ok. If you think this game is lame... well please consider talking to a pro about it. I am not flaming... but please give us an example of no-lame game you enjoyed. I really want to know. Because if this game is Lame i would really like to play a NON lame GAme... it would be what ...? Game of the year?... sorry... this LAME game is already GOTY....

FONV is GOTY?? Since it is an RPG, I don't think it has a prayer against Mass Effect 2 for winners considering that game blows it out of the water in quality and gameplay. While I agree this game reflects more of the first two Fallouts, saying it has a better story (none of them really had a story per se) is a stretch. But Fallout 3 was original (when reflecting on F1 & 2) in how it played and was a different area along with the same elements. You had factions, but you really didn't join one, there were vaults and desolate landscapes. Vegas really has no originality with all the similarities and recycled components from Fallout 3 and the faction component from 1 & 2.

But If I were to put quality in comparison, Fallout 3 smokes Vegas by miles. They use the same graphics engine (I am surprised Bethesda is still using the engine that made Oblivion). But the characters look worse in Vegas in what were already weak looking characters in 3. Vegas lost the complexity of the maps as well. It at least took some time to figure out how to get to areas one needed to in 3 (especially when you had to travel through the sewers) where Vegas is just wide-open.

Vegas recycled perks (nearly all, if not all of the perk from 3) and some of the music as well. You only get a perk every other level now, yet there are 89 perks to choose from ??? The quest-line is not as straightforward as 3. Is that an issue, not really since you choose a faction at some point in the game, and that is how it plays out. But, it is a problem if you want achievements as you have to play the game through 5 times to get those achievements and some that are pertinent to certain faction as well. Make a wrong choice, the achievement tied to a certain quest is denied because that quest failed. The game simply isn't interesting enough to want to play that many times. It feels like more of 3 and having been there and done that.

This game had far more bugs than Fallout 3, and not surprisingly since the developers are near the same people who did Fallouts 1 & 2 and they were noted for lack of quality. Do I think the game is lame, no, because Bethesda and Black Isle RPGs had issues with graphics and glitches before, but Vegas isn't as good as Fallout 3 which is by far the best of all of them as it changed how game story plays (if there is a story really) and what you do to complete it.

If you think it deserves GOTY, that's cool, I most certainly do not, not when Mass Effect 2 is considered for this years awards and that is the only competition going for it and they are the two biggest names yet this year for the RPG category. I found reasons why this game is lacking and after having played Fallout 3 for hundreds of hours, this game lost any of my interest after just one play-through. For those buying this game having never played Fallout 3, then I can see where this game could be very enjoyable for them. But if those that really loved Fallout 3 get Vegas, they may get the "Been there, done that" feeling.

This whole thread is Lame. The game is awesome, I'm addicted to playing it, I played ALL oblivion games so I guess thats why I like it more than some NOOB. I really can't wait for Skyrim, and then Fallout 4. No official word on a fallout 4, but I'm sure they will make one.. its all about $$$$$

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion however I don't think Fallout 3 or New Vegas are contender's for GOTY. There's lot's of great games out there. Either way, I'm disappointed a little with why they chosen Las Vegas as a destination. That city is nowhere near for seriousness by any means and picking any other mega city in the U and S of A or the world would be more subtle. It's more fun & stupidity whereas Washington D.C. resourced value to the title.
