I recently bought Empire and I love the concept, but I'm having incredibly long turn times - 12 to 30 seconds, which doesent really sound too long, but when your looking at nothing but a computer screen it seems like an eternity. It's not only the length but the fact that I lose focus and forget what I was even doing, then I lose my temper and shut the beast down for awhile. Needless to say, I havent made it more than a good twenty turns into the campaign and I'm feeling a little jipped. Just wondering if anyone else out there had the same problem and if the long turns can be fixed in a future patch (i'm not computer-savy)?

When this game first came out, the original version was taking up to 4 minutes on my computer. Reading forum boards at the developer's website, many people were experiencing the same problem. With each patch they made, it did seem it greatly improve. I am currently getting the same as you, on a high-end machine. Remember that there are many nations performing turns, with the computer "thinking", sort of like chess, and 12 to 30 seconds does not seem that long, in my opinion.

With the Europa Barbaroum mod for RTW, I'd sometimes have the AI take 5 minutes to make its moves.

30 seconds is nothing to complain about.
In the end they will lay their freedom at our feet and say to us, 'Make us your slaves, but feed us.'

I understand that Europa Barbarorum had long turns, thats why I uninstalled it. But, I have horrible ADD and I loved Rome and Medieval, and I know that I really, really want to love Empire... I'm just frustrated with the whole beast right now and thought maybe I was missing some important detail. Hopefully they'll come up with something before long, or I'll just stick with Custom Battles.

    Thanks fella's and/or ladies.
