I would give it an 9/10. The campaign is one of the best around, only matched by the online gameplay. I would say you couldnt go far wrong.

It's a good game, but not the best. If you want serious combat with realistic weaponry and tactics don't bother with it. The story is one of the best of any XBOX game out there and the soundtrack is incredible. I would say the best thing about Halo though is that even someone who isn't very good at shooters can have fun because of the different difficulty levels and it has a very simple control layout.
If you have XBOX LIVE and like shooter games you should definitely try it out. Matchmaking ensures you're never totally destroyed by better players and there is a good variety of game types and maps, although the playlists you can enter are pretty limited if you haven't downloaded the map packs (some of which you have to pay for).

The story is epic, but the Campaign isn't long enough. Bungie could have worked much harder at the Campaign to make it a longer game. However, the Multiplayer, the Forge, and the Theater are a good addition. There are currently 13 Playlists online, and there is a Double EXP Weekend every weekend that runs Thursday through Monday. Playlists in the Double EXP Playlist include Grifball, Infection, CTF, Team Melee, and more. Also there is a monthly 7 on the 7th playlist that is purely for unlocking achievements.
In my opinion, Halo is a good buy, but only if you have Xbox Live. 8/10

I'd give it a 9/10. Playing through the campaign can be an enjoyable experience, but multiplayer is the reason to buy this game. I wouldn't recommend it if you can't connect to Xbox Live, but if you can, it's possibly one of the best games you can get for the 360.

7/10, I have played better and think it gets old after a while. It is a great game though.
