I am looking at getting the sims 3 but my PC does not meat the RAM req. I currently have a Dell Dimension 4550 Desktop with 512MB RAM and Windows XP, i need 1GB of RAM. To buy 1GB of RAM and the Sims 3 Collector's Edition would cost me $117. Is it worth it? 🤔

Its worth it, but (I say this having bought the Collector's Edition) the extras in the Collector's Edition, if you have to upgrade your RAM, I don't think its worth it. If it were the normal edition in the other hand it would be worth it definetly, but if you really want the collector's edition then I stick with my original idea. (its worth it)

I'd say you should upgrade your ram on general principle. You really can't get by with less than 2gb these days. 4gb with Vista.

The sims 3 would run better on a pc built in 2008 (i.e, QUAD-CORE) or whatever multi-core cpu you can afford. I got my QUAD CORE PC for $750 and it's a beast, it runs sims 3 and the new spore add-on like crazy. I get 120 fps on my ati 3650 on idle! Crysis runs 60 fps at 1024x768 I have a 17" monitor.. want a 47" so bad!! anyways torch, upgrade your pc, it's time to buy a lenovo which is IBM's pc line. Rock solid computer, it takes alll the OC'ing I can throw at it and doesn't blue screen. BTW I am running the windows 7 rc... wow.... that o/s is what i've always wanted out of vista, its simple, rock solid. and the uac warnings can be turned off without it complaining. get a pc with at least 3 gigs ra with room to spare, get a 64-bit o/s to have upto 18 gigs of ram possible.
