Doing quest, killing NPC's for drops that can be sold... Usually the NPC's are no where near your lvl and are easy to kill.. You spend days on end doing this and usually its againts the rules of MMO's

Farming is a action you do in game ( usually a role playing game ) in which you "focus" on gathering, a "specific" virtual resource in massive quantities.

The reason they call it farming is because, as in real life, a farmer may choose something like "corn" or "carrots", and will invest all their time on gaining as many of these vegetables as possible.

Farming for gold means, you not worrying about leveling up, nor do you care about other things outside of the gold focus....

For example, if you get the LEGENDARY SPORE OF JOHN DOE LEAF, and find a specific area where to get it...You may choose to stay in that area for hours at a time building up John Doe leafs...lol

In Real life people can farm for pretty women at the Dance Club, that's if your a big mocha player

There are multiple levels of farming in GW -- Farming for gold, items, lightbringer and sunspear points, it all depends on where you are and what you are trying to accomplish or gain.

Basically, farming means you go into a particlular area and defeat groups of enemies for monetary drops or items (preferably rare gold or green items).

Best to get yourself leveled up to 20 to farm effectively. Then, you'll want to construct a good farming build for your ranger class. Farming builds can be found here:

Next, pick your place to farm. Hydra farming around Augury Rock, green item drops at Sorrow's Furnace, raptor farming in EOTN, it's wide open. Ask around in towns for good farming areas and get in with an experienced farming party for best results.

I suggest following the main quest line to level up naturally, taking a few side quests along the way. This will also open up new areas you can come back to and farm later when you reach the level cap of 20.

You could also hire a power leveler in one of the towns who will take you out and kill powerful enemies while you stand by and gain the experience. Of course, expect to pay for the service. Rates vary with the person doing the deed.
