It's also a lot less straight forward than single player cheating, and is "viewed" as hacking.

I couldn't agree with you more and even though I never play online and use cheat codes, trainers, and modded material for my own pleasure, I would never do this online, nor agree with anyone who did. Cheating online, or at least trying to is, I feel, the reason it is getting harder for individuals who play single game as I do to obtain good or any cheat codes or Trainers, and making games less likely to be able to mod.
