hello guys
what do u think about ancients total war ??!!
For Example to have factions like grecce sparta Egypt AND ESPECIALLY THE PERSIAN EMPIRE IN TIMES OF CYRUS THE GREAT AND DARIUS I !
total war hasnt made a game for ancient factions cause persia one time have ruled whole middle east and greece !!

I thought Roman Total War was pretty Acient lol..:P..but just little over acient, but you got a good idea, ..and they got the expansion pack aswell, Alexander The Great

Ancient wouldn't be a good idea as there's Rome Total War.

I think if a new total war game were to be made, it would be like based on World War 1 or 2. But that would probably be a mess.

Edit: Even thinking of it would be a mess, it wouldn't even make sense.

Yah Rome total war already is like an ancient time but it would be cool if the Persian War was part of a new total war or maybe like a WWII sorta total war. But that might be hard to create

Well if you want to call it ancient total war, might as well do it in the time of the primates and dinosaurs,throwing rocks lol..
Well if it needs to be a new total war game, I would rather have it in the China era,the three kingdoms era or around that time,that would be nice.In addition with great generals that could give certain attributes to the army like higher moral or stronger spearmen or stronger cavaleries etc...generals that could fight on hundreds of men alone before being capture and decide either joining their new lords or being a warrior for higher,warriors like the mighty LU Bu or the great Gwan Yu..

Listen they should remake the original game shogun total war with all the new grafix and stuff they remade medieval so why not shogun that would be my favorite game of all time "im a samurai nut" lol

i think that empire is flawed and that this concept with all units being missile units was a mistake i love watching the hand to hand combat of the earlier games and with this new motion capture stuff they could realy make i fantastic.

sadly in my opinion the total war genre has become worse over time visually its bettet but gameplay sucks empire most of all allthough i love the sea battles would like new ships ironclads and fire ships small gunboats "large life boats with a big cannon in the bow" in use by denmark well never mind the gunboats they keep patching the game but the radar map in combat stil stays centered and whont follow your view like all other previous games its been that way since the demo and beta version

in medieval 2 they slacked of on the animation when you kill a guy on a horse both fall to the ground like they where atached in rome the rider fly of violently separetely from the horse

sorry im rambling but seeing my favorite game series being perverted into games like empire and napoleon total war brings out my bad english but worst of all i just have to buy all the games in the series no matter what im that big a fan ijust cant help myself

I absolutely agree! Shogun would be a master piece with the new graphics engine!
And you are completely right, I think the games started to go downhil after Sega got into the mix. When it was Activision they were classics, but now they're becoming less what I liked about the series and more like everyday trivial trash.
I especially dislike Empire total war. To me, nothing is better than Rome Total War, because I can represent the Fatherland, aka Alamani Tribe, but Shogun with the new graphics would blow them all out of the water.
It was the first game, and it got me hooked. I seriously think they should consider doing that...not that they read these kinds of blogs, but hey, we can dream right?
As far as an Ancient Total War, it would be interesting in concept, but in gameplay I'm sure it would be lacking. Most of the really cool killing engines didn't exist until the so called "greek liars" started to really put their minds to it. I wouldn't want to play a game without major siege engines, and heavy calvary. Plus the fact that all the Total War games, save Shogun, have had to lie to us all about how big certain fighting units really were.
In university we covered the early middle ages, and an army back than consisted of 45 angry men with swords and armour, not a 2000 person force moving from one city to the next...in fact even with the Rome, only the romans had massive units that actually maintained cohessiveness, the Barbarians just attacked enmass. I also think that a better feature to add, would be to consolodate wounded units, in the field, much like you can in the map view, making combat, for a great leader, more realistic, and much more satisfiying.
I for one can't stand having One person in a unit, and having them try to charge...but that's just me...speaking of rambling on...lol
