Does the trainer slow the game down?

    Hey ya'll,

    Question concerning the ETW trainer.

For the time being, i'm stuck with a laptop until I get back home in September - job/internship has me stuck elsewhere for the time being.

This rig, admittedly isn't the newest piece of hardware on the block but it's still above the minimum standards for the game - not that this is the greatest piece of relief either.

I was wondering if anybody else was experiencing lag with the trainer on the Empire map (not the tactical battles). For some reason, the Empire Map is causing a lot of lag when I click on certain units like ports or some armies. Sometimes the wait is like a few seconds, sometimes it's upto a minute! I was wondering if this is b/c of the trainer, something with the game, or b/c this rig is too slow.

The battles run fine - though on low settings - without any lag at all. I figured, the battles would have been the biggest problem for me but apparently, that is not the case...

    Thanks for your input!

Are you using the Unlimited Movement option of the trainer? If so, that is the likely culprit.

When you click on a unit on the campaign map, the game renders an overlay to indicated where that unit can go. If you have unlimited movement on, this overlay will cover the entire visible map - this can be quite large and will definitely cause a delay while the overlay is rendered.

I've got a reasonably powerful desktop, and this issue can bring my comp to a halt every once in awhile, so I just use everything but the Unlimited Move option.

    Hope this helps.

isnt the unlimited movement activated only after each time you press the button?

Sometimes it just seems to slow down without my pressing of hte button - though I have noticed that the unlimited movement also slows it down as well.

Download the newest version of the trainer where we addressed performance options. The game slows down because it has to scan over 1GB of memory everytime you use an option. That's just the way the game was programmed.

The Way it worked in the First few additions to the trainer was it had to bring the movement to cover all the known map so it brought my high end PC to its knees every once and a while. But with the new trainer it seems the click move a little click move a little rinse and repeat has replaced it. Somthing in between would be nice. but im not guna complain due to the cheat happens staff rocks for even making trainer like this possible for us!!!!!

Just to second the Quote: If you run for president i would vote for you!!!!!

    thanks for the explanation.

Since it's scanning memory then I'm assuming graphic rendering options in game have no affect on this speed bump?

Most times game runs slow, you can turn down graphic options and it will run faster, but does the above memory search mean this has nothing to do with it anymore?

I've been playing the R2Ind campaign with maxed out graphic options, and just wanted to know if I turned those down would it speed up the search/lag of the trainer? thanks.
