i need a ratholos wing but my greatsword cant reach the wing to cut it off!!! and yes i've already tried a gun..

you can't cut off a wing!!!! you can damage it severely but you can't cut it off!! also do guild Rathalos Quests they give you wings if you do them right

Yes, you don't cut off the wing. You can get it from the rewards or from carving it, I'd say just keep killing it until you get them. If you can't get any from the elder, try hr2 level 5 quests killing the rathalos, you should get them much easier in there.
