how long does it take for the egg between female salamance and male gyaridos to make?

That is dependant on a few things.

If you caught them both then you'll likely have to move about 1000 steps for an egg to be made. If the Salamence or Gyarados was caught by someone else then that'll speed up the process.

I suggest using the day care app the man gives you inside the day care as it'll tell you when an egg is there (when you refresh it).

1000 is just an estimate, it could be a lot more or a lot less. The fastest time an egg was made for me was the difference between talking to the old man to get the egg he was holding, then I talked to the lady and she told be he had another one. the longest time would have been about 1/2 an hour of constant high gear bike riding.

I always knew there were egg groups, I just didn't know that there was actually something that went along with them.
