    relax man seriously, explain what you are doing and how you are trying to use it because i've never had one single problem with it

    also as far as i can tell, nobody else has yet either so it's probably something really trivial happening to you

    i understand the frustration but you have to also remember, nobody had to even make the save game editor in the fast place, and nobody had to edit it or add features to it or anything, so saying stuff like "thanks for nothing" kind of just seems rude considering the time they have put into it, how would you feel if you spent time making something then suddenly some random person starts spouting out like you just did.... i'm sure you would feel a little under appreciated

    a little politeness and courtesy in your posts with actual explanations of what you did or didn't do go a long way to helping others understand the problem, and potentially assist you in your problems, but when you come barging in all worked up and just ranting it makes it harder for people to help you and sometimes not want to help you at all

    Well, totallylostdriv, the editor is distributed as is with no support. Heck, it can even corrupt and destroy your savegame (thankfully it makes backups first) so you use it at your own risk. If it does not work for you, than it means only that you're out of luck or that God or other supernatural being doesn't want you to cheat. :P

    But, getting to the point of this post, upgrading the game to version 2.43 made my characters able to choose higher difficulty than they were able in version 2.34. Curious as this was, it allowed me to find the byte in savegame file that is responsilbe for available difficulties. Hence, the new version of the editor allows you to change the difficulties. I have tested it on version 2.43 but the editor should (NOT TESTED) work well with versions before 2.43. If anyone can confirm it, fell free to try.

    Editor changelog (! - fixes; + - additions):
    ! fixed finding the character name in savegame file (it could get buggy sometimes);
    + added difficulty changing;
    + added "Level up" and "Level down" buttons.

    The level up and level down buttons increase character level adding correct number of skill points, attribute points available skills and setting correct xp (all this data comes from SacredWiki). BUT BEWARE! It seems that the weapon and combat art slots are also stored in savegame file and are not based on level itself. It means that if you level up your character to level 200 using the editor, you will gain all possible skill and attribute points but you will have only ONE weapon and combat art slot. Maybe I will find it sometime, but for now please level your character at levels 3, 11 and 21 ingame only (according to SacredWiki those are the levels you gain additional weapon and CA slots).

    difficulty editing? WOOT, that is just plain awesome, the main quests get a little annoying after completing them like 5+ times due to using more than one character

    i always thought it was stupid how you had to do it all again for every character, if this works it's a life saver, specially when you reach that point where the current difficulty is getting too easy but cannot be bothered to finish the main quest yet again grrr

    also about the version differences... i was always using 1.43 and never had any issues, so how much difference is there really in the savegames between versions?

    my own personal curiosity aside, good job yet again karach0s

    Can't seem to get it to work. It will open just fine, I can edit the stuff and then save it. However, none of the changes I make are saved. When I open the editor and open the same savegame again, it also shows exactly the same stats as before I edited.
    it also leaves a 0kb sized decoded file.

    MT4K, to be honest, those difficulty differencies are the only ones I have discovered, but I haven't searched very thoroughly. But, as a side note, it is always a good idea to use the updated software, because patches are made to fix errors and in some cases (like Sacred 2) add some new features to the game.

    Sora2555, I can only guess that means the editor doesn't have write priviledge in Sacred 2 savegame folder (0kb decoded file is the main clue, but it is strange since if the decoded file is 0kb then where does the editor read file contents from???). If you are using Vista, it may help to run the editor as the local administrator or give it writing priviledges to sacred 2 savegame folder. Or maybe allow the editor to run external application (the decoder) if your firewall or antivirus asks you to. Or you could copy the savegames to some temporary directory which you are sure they have write priviledges (local TEMP directory?), edit the file there, save it and manually copy it to the Sacred 2 savegame directory. Other than that I have no idea, since I'm using XP (and as an administrator, which isn't very safe ).

    As long as I am working with the editor, I also see another decoded file, 67KB in size. If I manually decode a savegame, it's about the same size. whenever I save my edited savegame, I get my 0KB decoded file and the 67KB sized one disappears.

    btw, I run win7 and XP. I use XP for sacred 2. Same problem in both win7 and XP. disabling firewall, moving to another dir, neither does the trick.
