Depends on where you were, how close the lines were.

It's why they had seeing-eye devices made...mirror on mirror.

They could do dogfights too, try to kill the Red Baron or something...plus I believe there were subs back then as well, the best team to tackle it might be Gearbox, they did a hell of a good job on the historically accuracy of Brothers in Arms.

Speaking of the Red Baron...

When are we going to get a proper WWI flight sim again? I've given up on getting Flying Corps to work and Red Baron is showing its extreme age.

I nicknamed myself the green baron lol long story. (just had to throw that out their).

And I think a WWI game would be pretty cool. But another alternative is we could have a WWIII (but the US gets to stay out of this one) and make a game over that (assuming anyone was left on the planet). I think that would be a pretty cool game.

I actually wouldn't mind playing as the Germans if a FPS WWI or WWII game was ever made in their boots. I don't think it'll ever happen but it would still be interesting to be on that side of the fence...

Back to the WWI discussion though what about the first tanks used...be cool to see the birth of the tank.

Well I think it would make a nice change

What I think would also make a nice change is a change of sides, not necessarily to the "bad guys" but maybe some of the other allies. Indian, Australia, Russia, New Zealand, Egypt, even the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire, these could all be interesting perspectives to fight from IMO

There was a lot of interesting conflict going on, Russia managed to take out a huge chunk of the Turkish Supreme Commanders force when he tried to take them on in the Caucasus I believe, quite a victory since Turkey were such a tough opponent traditionally.

And yea heaps more stuff they could do

Well they've already had Russians in the WW2 games already and like Dhampy said most games companies are American-centric, the States would have to be involved in some way...

Either way even if it is a small role by the US in WWI, I think a WWI game (if done properly) would definetly sell.
