I just bought the game... $50... And went through 6 hours of steam updates, installs, and game updates, and the game doesn't even work period.

As soon as I start it up, it might make it up to the credits, then it freezes, sounds starts to skip, and my comp automatically reboots... It's extremely annoying since I spent a lot of money and a lot of time and all I wanted to do was play the game but it won't let me. Please help

I had that same problem when I first installed it, what vid card are u using as well as the drivers for them?

I finally fixed it. I uninstalled it completely, reinstalled it, reinstalled it again, then again, then ran it in windowed mode, then set it to windowed mode and hide border in the game options.

unfortunately thats the problem many of the people on Valve forums are having, or atleast used to have. check there for more fixes.

Disable multi-core video rendering in Advance Video settings. I'm running Steam also.

Once I did this, that game stopped freezing, skipping, and crashing.

I'll try that, cause now every time I want to play, I have to reinstall it, which sucks majorly. Where is the L4D patch that Steam downloads after installing? Cause I hate having to reinstall the same patch for 2 hours every single time I wanna play... /hatesteam

What is your operating system? if it is Vista 64 bit,it makes some problems. note:go to the website and use help and support for the game.
