Regarding the Mega Trainer (U.S./English), Unlimited Hull Integrity, No Turret....

I live in the US, have purchased Dead Space through Steam.

I have tried both trainers listed here, and several from other sources.

All seem to crash DS immediately when in the process of loading anything. Example (with CH trainers) is trying to "Continue Game" after activating the trainer from the main menu, or even attempting to Load Game, or select New Game.

Tried this with both trainers 3 times each. When launching the game with no trainers on, the game loads like normal and I'm able to play.

I'm running Vista 64-bit SP1 up to date, no AV, and hardware that's good enough (if it were possible) to run 2 of these games on high quality settings side by side.

The only other processes I have open are Steam (required), and Xfire.
Same result when Xfire was closed before running DS.

Game version matches with what has been posted in the main trainer post ( 1.0.0.222 ).

As DS was recently released on Steam, it may be possible, like many or all of their other releases, they have an even different game EXE than the two CH trainers were made for, though it bears the same version number.

P.S. Problem is persistent after rebooting.

New Edit: Tried one thing that's on the Trainer FAQs not previously done, but with the same result. Grabbed a no-cd fix, but it was just a securom dll replacement, which did not help.

From "The_Bishop"'s post, he has a 32-bit OS, which would rule out it just being due to 64-bit OS on my side. His issue sounds exactly what I'm experiencing.

Yes, it is exactly the same issue. DS from Steam, my rig is *more* than capable of running anything, and an immediate crash when using either trainer.

    Apparently nobody is listening, however.

its most the case that the steam version is defferent from the hard copy version i think the cause is the copy protection because you dont need the cd/dvd

As long as we keep this thread active it should get noticed by either an author or admin. I won't lose hope.

I noticed the steam versions of most games the trainers will not work with them unless it is specific to that game like the trainer for bioshock. I downloaded dead space from Gamestop online and then got the trainer and it works perfect with it. I have tried downloading the no-cd fix on a few of my steam games but i haven't had any luck. The versions of games i have downloaded from Gamestop i have had no problem running the trainers. i think your right that the trainers were made for versions of the game that are retail versions or D2D versions and that steam has had to tweak the game so that it can be run on there program.

You are correct Silentground. You'll see on some games that CH has released trainers that say "Retail/Steam", like GTA4. The NoCD fix for Dead Space, unfortunately, is just a DLL file which doesn't change the EXE (which trainers are meant to search memory in). (CH says to try downloading a NoCD fix if trainers don't work with a game, but only the EXE nocd fixes would work in those cases).
