I would also love to have a steam trainer! As of right now steam is running build 1.1.0.411. I don't know if that helps..

never buy digital, always buy dvd i have spore and sims 3 on dvd, no issues at all.

Spore was on sale for Steam recently, meaning a lot more people bought it, is there any chance the CH team will be making trainers for the Steam Version?
The current trainers crash the game as soon as you activate them.
