WARNING: Its a virus.

They could do that and risk of being infected with a virus or just simply edit the registry like I did.

Step 1: Run Regedit by Clicking on Start -> Run , type in regedit and press enter
Step 2: Make a backup of your registry (just in case)
Step 3: Browse to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows"
Step 4: Modify the value of "CSDVersion" from "0x00000200" (SP2) to the Windows XP SP3 value of "0x00000300"
Step 5: Close registry editor
Step 6: Reboot

dude please just update the service pack through winupdate and there you go why in the hell would people need to do your way for? besides any one that knows the net can probably get a better fix and one they can trust, sorry.

Well, There Is No Virus...

I Have Just Build Up A Setup File........And It Has The Same Tweak What The Above Person Has Explained!!!

This Is Because Many People Are Unable To Proceed, So Thus, This File Twaeks Automatically And Restarts The PC - Tested!!!

If You Think There Is A Virus...Test It On Multiple Scanners (Facility Can Be Availed Through CheatHappens) - I Bet The File Is Safe!!!

Some Scanners Report The File As A Virus Because It Edits The Windows Main Program Registry Entries....

And Yeah - Tell Me Why Would I Infect It??? If I Know CH will BAn me???

Just tried it in Sandbox.
There isn't virus , one of antiviruses scan that it is Heur.w32 which isn't realy virus it just remove live one care.

But i must say the solution from Ratchet is better.
Or just update your windows

windows xp 64 bit dont have SP3 and dont look like it ever will get it either. so yes ratchet's idea is best for 64 bit users.
