Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA 4) Message Board  

I'm at a point where I have 3 different bike chase missions.The godmode cheat is nice but with my arthritis I can't control good enough to complete the missions.If there is a way to safely hack and slow the speed of the vehicles I'm chasing that would be nice.Anyone now of such a hack?

Sounds like the same boat I'm in. I can't control the bikes due to poor reflexes related to a freakin' broken hand I got a day after getting the game! (Argh!)

I would love to slow down the vehicles I need to chase. I've got six weeks before my hand is out of the cast and I'm going nuts.

You can do it with GTA IV Magic by editing handling.dat

After reading the GTA IV magic instructions I'm afraid to use it,one mistake and I'll have reinstall the game and lose all my progress.Also I can't figure out what to change in the handling.dat file to slow down the cars and bikes I'll be chasing in the game.I'll just stop playing for now and hope CH can come up with some trainer options to make the chases easier.Thanks for the info though.

Just backup data folder (that are 40-50 MB)
You have .bat file there and you can watch what it do.
It just backup files.

Also you just have to overwrite files.txt and filelist.pak
After it you can change every file without getting crash , just make backup of the file or directly of folders.

I had to overwrite 2 files (backup them before) and than backup file i changed that was it.

That .bat file also just backup your config folders.
You have to overwrite filelist.txt and filelist.pak by yourself.

which bike chase missions are you referring too, if you dont mind me asking?

I think it's the Ray Boccino mission called "No way on the subway". You gotta chase a couple of biker dudes IN a subway tunnel WITH trains going to and fro.

Yeah i past that already even before the trainer came out it did take me 4 times it is all about learning the route or path of the bikers once you get to a certain spot then you can waste him, just remember you can kill one of the bikers but the other was meant to take you on a long ride b4 you get to kill him. So just keep doing it and you'll see that path or pattern the biker takes and you can keep up with him and snuff him out!

So you see you dont need to alter any vehicle.dat files or risk messing your game up.
