i thought you had to look for it in: c:\documents & settings\\application data\rockstar or on vista: c:\users\\appdata\local\rockstar

Your saves on vista are located at C:\Users\~System-Name~\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames
The Appdata folder is a hidden folder!
To unhide hidden files & folders make a folder anywhere open it up go Organize\Folder and Search Options\View\Under Hidden Files and Folders check Show Hidden Files and Folders\Click apply and ok!
You should now be able to see the hidden appdata folder

Vista to XP is a downgrade of DX, not sure if that's the problem?
