    I've just arrived in Hearthome city and i can't battle in the gym because there's no one in the gym, not even the gym leader. Help please.

    You have to move on to the next gym and beat that, and I think the one after that as well. So you have to battle two more gyms then go back and battle the Hearthome gym leader.

    Leftie's right. You need to beat the FIGHT (Veilstone) and WATER (Pastoria) gyms first.

    ok, i just did, went back to Hearthome city and no one's still there. Do i need to enter the pokemon contest or something? Because i didn't at all.

    No, just go in there and talk to your "mom".
    Then head to The Mansion on @ bottom-left exit of the city

    no go to pastoria city after gym then go infront of great marsh and u'll see galatic guy he'll keep runing so keep folowing him and talk to him wen u talk to him second time ur rival will challenge u so ya lol tahts it
