On xbox 360 it worked to answer the phone and accept to hang out. Then call back and cancel. That did not affect their mood. It was something like that anyway :P

But they maybe got it fixed, haven't tested it.

This is by no means the first game where making a stable trainer has been judged not practical/possible.
It was inevitable as soon as so many games went the windows live route, I hope the devs are getting their money's worth now cause when M$ has a monopoly they will get as screwed as we have been. M$ will be charging a arm and a leg for the right to use the windows live logo/system and yet as far as I am concerned it is a step backwards.
Couple years back when this stuff first begun I saw some ninny in a pC forum asking if the latest hack of his favourite game would let him get his 'achievements'. I thought he was kidding and answered "yeah wot a drag I wana be the best one armed upside down vase breaker in the game" or whatever pointless achievements the game was offering.
The guy was serious though and it is him and every other closet multiplayer who is destroying the fun in single player mode for other gamers.
Everyone (well most of us) accept that you can't shouldn't cheat in multiplayer games, fine but single player, where some of us like to play around doing stupid things with crazy cheats and trainers, should be exempt from the "punkbuster mentality".
Except it isn't cause of those gamers who have gone along with the half bottomed achievement system, in doing so, have created a perfect excuse for M$ and co to make their games cheatproof lest we would be getting undeserved achievements.
The fact we don't want the achievements doesn't enter in to it eh.
kiddies want to 'beat' someone they have never met/never will meet without suffering the potential social embarrassment of online multi player gaming, so the rest of us have to miss out on a truly single player gaming experience.

In return as PC games become slightly better graphics clones of console games, M$ will be ready for the next stage of their plan for world domination, going mano a mano with Sony.
Then we will be truly at the mercy of a few big game developers all of whom have to obey M$ orders.
Of course Rockstar games are nearly as bullying and monopolistic in their business practises as M$, so in that regard it couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of bum wholes, but those of us that yearn for the crazy fun we used to have in Vice City will have to find new developers and platforms for our hobby.

First of all i want to thank CH for their hard work on this title.

Now i am so tired of these gaming companies and other companies that practice this type of business, that we the consumers lay down our hard earned money and the companies are telling us how long and how many times and whom may play or use their products, and what you can do with their products. I can't believe what they did to keep people from cheating in this game if i want to cheat in a game i paid for that i own then i should be able too, i mean i dont condone cheating in any multi player games but damn your single player game you should get to do what u want with it and play it how ever you want. So according to these companies that done as this one has on this title, we the consumer are not really buying their games, we are only leasing it from them, we may play in their world which means we have to play by their rules while playing on OUR Computers.

What happen to the days your games was yours to do with what you please and do with it what u want? Soon every thing you buy that can be resold will have licenses on them and you then will only then be leasing the very clothes on your back and wont be able to resell them in any way. Yup one day you will pay for items and never own them whats so ever.

I've yet to have trainer problems with a Games For Windows LIVE game. Gears of War, Fallout 3 and Halo 2 all worked great for me. no crashes at all with the trainer.

GTA4 is different though becuase it's not just LIVE. it's the social club too, and then R* added even more code to **** over modding/trainers.

LIVE, even though it makes things difficult for trainers is still a good service and i for one love it. This game is a lot more than just LIVE problems.

Ditto on all your comments!I buy their games and more and more I don't feel sorry for the companies getting ripped off by pirates.We who pay the big bucks for the games should be able to use trainers for single player modes on any game we own.The companies should at least let people who buy the games be able to download a patch to make the single player modes available for cheating.When I bought Stranglehold the game came with an access code that you entered when you registered the game,Unfortunately instead of getting cheat options like they listed all I got was a stupid wallpaper of a bird!But they could use the same system for legit owners to get a patch to make the games available for cheating.

And how long before the patch gets leaked to other sites? Its not feasible. Unfortunately it seems developers these days, would rather focus on copy protection systems than the quality of the actual product, and whilst its fair that they protect their product, it becomes irrelevant when legitimate owners struggle to run the thing!

Besides we are all moving slightly off topic here, its not the Securom or Securom DRM hindering the product its Rockstar themselves.

I'm sure that they could make the patch only work on the game with the DVD/CD in the drive and not with a cracked EXE file.And even if the hackers eventually crack the patch it would enable legit owners to get a quick access to a game that can have a trainer or cheats work on it and still complete all level achievements.

Id be happy with a trainer that did nothing more than give infinite health, and PERHAPS ammo. But not having to put the cheat for health in over and over in gunfights and being able to just be a rogue baddie would be MORE than enough for me, since this game is so hard to make cheats for.
