Battlefield 2142 Message Board  

No doubt, punkbuster is...terrible.

I installed it on my XP. It was workin fine too.

However, after i got out of one game i changed to another, but was immediatly kicked, I couldn't even choose my class. No error message given, just punkbuster.

So EA said to open up services.msc and look for PnkbstrA and PnkbstrB, and that they both were started.

EA also gave a way to start them if they showed up, but weren't started.

However for me, PnkbstrB isn't showing up at all, and i'm sure this is the problem. However, EA gave no way of getting PnkbstrB onto this list, and I was wondering if anyone knew how, and if they did, would they please tell me


UPDATE: I found an export list on the services.msc but I don't know where punkbuster would be! Or it what type of file.

Sorry, I just got to this page today.

I would suggest that you try installing Punkbuster again. Head to the punkbuster (punkbuster.com/) website and download the Setup program (punkbuster.com/index.php?page=dl-bf2142.php is the link to the page for 2142 specifically).

But the easiest way is to just download PBSetup (punkbuster.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php) and choose the version for the OS you use. It automatically updates all of your PB enabled games.

This solved any issues I was having with PB.

i had a problem with bunkbuster too. i got rid of it easily in minutes by deleting the file pb completely in the battlfield 2142 files and going on the punkbuster website and just updating it and it will just put in a new punkbuster. thats how i fixed my prob

start it select 2142 and update

should work now
