Games for windows live scares me.......Maybe I am miss informed...But it seems like the future of trainers could be threatened by the growing imperialistic approach of games for windows, in regards to achievements etc Could there ever be such a dreadful future in which there are no more trainers for PC games allowed?

i would say its very unlikley due to the trainers intercepting memory adresses.on the other hand look at kane and lynch, how there is something built into the game preventing cheats, so you have to keep reactivating the trainer every couple of min.as your playing. it would be very lame if they waste effort into preventing singalplay cheats. i mean who cares if someone wants to cheat in singplay.achievments are worthless i think.i wish there were more games with built in cheats like saints row, gta, and such. it adds to the replay value of a game.

Gears of War and Halo 2 both had trainers and they worked perfectly fine whole game. Gears just crashed on it's own.

And if you don't care about achievements that it doesn't really matter.

And actually Games For Windows LIVE games will get easier to make trainers for after this fall when Games For Windows LIVE gets it's own stand alone program that runs in the background it's not built into the individual games anymore and once that happens it'll be even easier to make trainers for the games.

This update is suppose to come with GTA IV. We also get a full marketplace like the xbox.

I believe that Games For Windows LIVE is for the most part voluntary. You should still be able to play the game without signing in to LIVE (and if it does it for you, just simply sign out and start the game). This way, your game never makes contact with Microsoft's servers and you can use the trainer worry free.
    Your bitterness, I will dispel

Correct. Unless you care about achievements single player games can be totally played offline just never put in a LIVE account.

However Multiplayer LIVE games obviously require an account which is now 100% free for all PC features (xbox 360 still requires the pay Gold account but Games For Windows LIVE is 100% free)
