But it is not all bad news. My thread on gamefaqs has been referenced on the offical forums, and at least one EA rep has said they have been following my mod project and listening to the feedback on the frequency of raids. Over 90% want the frequency dropped alot, and word is the first patch will do this.
It sucks, but at least you shouldn't have to wait long.
It uses similar times as my medium package, and he also increased the possible number of artifacts on planets to eight (which seems kinda like cheating to me, meh)
His file format is far superior, needing only to be copied into the spore/data folder and it WILL work with existing saves.
I registered here a few days ago when I saw CH mentioned on the customsims3 forum but couldn't figure out where the Spore stuff was.
I should have mentioned this, Rick's mod works on UFO attacks as well. Whereas mine didn't.
Maybe in the official patch there will be checkboxes or a slider for the frequency of attacks
I'm going to try the other mod, but can't say I like the 8 artifacts per planet thing
Out of curiousity Duthos, I imagine you took a peek inside the other guys mod package to see what he changed.

I reinstalled spore hopefully that fixes the problem. Thanks for the hard work on the mod, eventually we will mod the game to do what we want.
i/we should have mentioned this earlier but thanks duthos and others who contribute your time, work, and community efforts here at cheathappens.
our forums/boards are second to none because of the active member involvement here.
