Medieval 2: Total War Message Board  

I have the 1.3 version and also the trainer version of the same. I run the trainer and then the game. The options work, but after selecting a city or queing a building, the screen goes to black. The M2TW cursor is visible except in the middle where the windows cursor is visible. It seems that there is an alert box or something, but it's not visible, just a black screen. If I hit escape, it closes the game to the desktop and the trainer still says ready without the game running. Anyone have any suggetions?

are you using the no-cd fix as the troubleshooting guide suggests?
