Alright, I know this might never be responded to since this game is old now, but if anyone knows the answer to this, please answer: Can you actually unlock the characters in a normal way without using cheats?
My imaginary friend thinks you have serious problems...

you mean the penguin and others? no. you can unlock the bosses and fake crash by beating the game and no you cant get n. oxide

You can unlock every character besides Penta afaik...
To unlock Roo, Komodo, Papu, Fake Crash and Pinstripe: - Get 4 CTR-tokens of a certain color (roo is red for example) to unlock the "X-Gem-Cup" (X being the the color). Then, finish first in the Cup and you have the Character.
to unlock N.Trophy, beat his Ghost on every time-trial-track. If you beat him on a track, you'll be able to race against N.Oxides Ghost. Beat him on every track and you'll be able to play as N.Oxide.
