Is there any way to edit specific ship data in an already saved game? Editing the nexus_00.dat only affects campaigns you start after the editing, and it doesn't hae all ships listed, like the Colossus. Specifically, how can I edit data for the Fight For Earth mission?

Nexus website no longer exists sadly. However you can now get the DaTool from ModDB on this [url]www.moddb.com/mods/nexusthe-aurora-affair/downloads/datool'>Link

The file includes all the instructions on how to extract the DAT also. Enjoy

Where do you find, of get, the tactics.ini file?

You need to extract nexus_00.dat using daTool.
Here is a good FAQ how to do it:
    Link

And here is a little info about what you can do inside tactics.ini:
    Link

is it possible to get a new link for the second link, cause its not working for me..

ok, forgive for sounding like a complete retard, but I cannot get the datool.exe to work. I have tried everything listed on the website, and it won't work. My copy has a no-cd patch integrated into it, and I'm wondering if that has any effect. Step-by step instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming you are using Win XP:

    1. Copy datool.exe to your Nexus directory.

    2. Go: Start -> Run -> type: cmd -> Enter.

    3. In Command Console type: cd [patch to your Nexus dir] - for example cd C:\Program Files\Nexus - The Jupiter Incident, then hit Enter.

    4. Check if you are in right directory.

    5. Type datool x nexus_00.dat -> hit enter.

    6. After extraction move nexus_00.dat to backup dir (or it will overrule your changes) and play with files

This should work... Well... It works for me

it extracted but none of the files show up. some say i have to run DAtool as an admin on my vista, but it pops up then closes right away. i am an admin on this computer, i had it set up that way, but it still doesnt show the extracted files. help is needed. thanks

@cavstud1013: if you download the moddb file it comes with a guide giving step by step instructions and screen shots.

also can anyone tell me what file do you modfy to change character stats?

this is an old thread, I doubt anyone is still looking around. (other than me of course). For all modding you want to do after Datool, go to 'universe'. For characters (NOT SHIPS!), go to Strategy, then open the npc.ini. For Ships (angelwing included), go to tactics, then open TacticsTypes.ini. Notepad and wordpad should work. I'm currently testing to see if mods will work through steam on windows 7 64-bit. (I'm probably way behind the times as far as anyone testing this, but I haven't seen a current post concerning this game within the last 6 months.). So, to reiterate, all the Ini files you wanna change are in the universe folder. If you don't HAVE a universe folder, then either you didn't use datool, or it didn't work correctly. There's always a third option, but I doubt wombats have anything to do with your computer :P Hope this helped!

It seems to me that if you change the tactics.ini, the game will crash during the cutscene where you go through the first worm hole with Angel. It also crashes if you use the trainer to get unlimited resource points and the like to equip the Angelwing prior to this mission.
And I can't figure out how to change the stats without starting a new game.

Edit: ok I figured it out. You just need a slot for some special device on the Angelwing and the game won't crash. Probably a slot for shield.
