Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA 4) Message Board  

I've gotten the "The Disc is Unreadable" error 3 times. I went to the store I bought it from and they gave me a new one but said it might not help. They were right, it happen to the one they gave me yesterday.

They said call/email Rockstar about it. I'll be doing that eventually. Just wondering if anyone else is getting the same problems.

have gotten it four times now the worst is when its in the middle of a mission !!! oh and make that six times

maybe its a sign to go back to playin halo3 lol

Faulty disk, 360 failure. Anything could be it. I would just keep going back till you got a working disk. The more you go back the better friends you are with the employees

I was actually talking to the guy at the store yesterday.

He said it's a general problem with GTA IV. The XBOX 360 has this issue and the PS3 has it's own issues. They apparently worked out the PS3 issue and they're working on a patch for the 360. So I'd expect a GTA IV patch on LIVE soon. Sucks if you don't have LIVE though.

So far i dont have it... i have froze before for no reason, not playing long or anything

Usually when a disc becomes unreadable, the disc is deeply scratched or even occasionally cracked. This happens in a lot of first-batch games, the retail versions released at launch, or very close to launch. It was the same story with my Halo 3 LE disc, I'd been playing it for 4 days and then the disc cracked.

I've gotten it like 5 times or more. And the disc is not scratched or marked at all. Hopefully a patch will fix it...
