he's not a man, he's an intelectual lifeform from Zenn-La who agreed to be Galactus' Herald in trade for his planet's saftey but even though Galactus still damaged the planet, the Surfer channeled some of his powers to his girlfriend to repair the planet, and hense forth, the Surfer must search planets for Galactus' consumption of it's energy, but the Surfer destroies Galactus in the movie.
