Well you have to bear in mind that although the Nazi forces was far more superior in almost everything against the Allies, they still lacked a cheap, reliable tank. The Allies had Shermans which were far cheaper than most Nazi tanks, although not as strong as them. The Nazi tanks brought superior firepower to the battlefield, but at a relatively high price, while the Allies' tanks brought mediocrity and a numerical advantage at a somewhat cheap price. The whole scenario of the game was made as such because the Allies in accordance to history would only encounter good, but not excellent resistance. The Allies were given such an average assortment of units because in the long struggle that followed there would be very few divisions compared to the ones the Eastern Front was "swallowing". With this mod of course you make available the whole Nazi army, but still these units are expensive and consume a lot of resources, so how to put these units to use with little cost is the true talent in the game. The Allies have relatively cheaper units, average and easy to build, so the player who plays them has a really easy job of putting them to use.

While I agree with a lot of your summary, the German military were most certainly not, on the whole, Nazi's... The Wehrmacht forces in particular, hence the separation between the proper Wehrmacht and Schutzstaffel (SS), specifically the subdivision of the Waffen SS. While units from the Heer and SS could, and did, fight side by side throughout the war, the Wehrmacht proper was actually not politically affiliated, albeit often festooned with swastikas and the like, the Balkenkreuz was by far the most common decoration and identification of armed forces for the Germans, and continues to be to this day.

This isn't an apologist or revisionist thing, but more a matter of dispelling a long held public misconception. The average soldier in the German Heer, Kriegsmarine, Luftwaffe, and so forth had either no ties what so ever to the Nazi party, or had no vested authority as a result of those political views.

As for the lunatics in power, who very much WERE a part of the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (from which we derive the word Nazi), their agenda was multi-pronged to not only retaliate for what they perceived as slights against Germany as a result of the Treaty of Versailles, but to indeed subjugate and even eradicate entire populaces, and the tools they planned to do that with were the forces of the Wehrmacht, who for the most part were ordered by those in power to do as such.

Not that any of that is any excuse, because it most certainly isn't even in the same universe as sufficient (nor is it intended to be) for the great sins committed against humanity by all levels of authority, both military and civilian, but in the end the political body and the military weren't the same thing nor interchangeable.

Apologies, of course I did not mean to imply that the soldiers were National Socialist, actually I wanted to only classify them as soldiers of a nation whose government's main party was National Socialist. It is my belief that after the end of WW2 and the ideological splitting of Germany into DDR and FRG ( I believe it was it's name) the existence of that Germany ceased to exist since the it's political leaders were subjected to criminal trials and such. Before that, the Germany that was, would appropriately be nicknamed "Nazi" to explain that today's Germany is not Nazi Germany and has shifted from that specific ideology. By saying Nazi Forces I meant Nazi German forces not to color the Germans as being "Nazi", but rather as them being part of the "Nazi German" faction. Perhaps it is my fault, but for better understanding of the whole situation I've nicknamed the pre-World War Germany as Nazi to explain that the nation was different from today's Germany, not in language or ethnic populace, but rather in the ideology. After all is not a country's ideology judged by those who sit on the top?

Modest update: Added three alternate/different versions of the Tiger I tank from the ToV campaign. They have the nifty self-repair option included, and one has smoke barrage.

Also, fixed a mistake that had previously disabled the Infantry Support Panzer IV "stubby" tank, now it's available again.

Savefile.com seems to be working properly again, so I've resumed use of their file hosting service, and the newest Ewiger Krieg is now uploaded there, enjoy!

This has been requested before, and while I can, I've decided against it (at least for the time being) because it's not really in keeping with the methodology of the forces.

The Wehrmacht were on offense early in the war, so didn't do much in the way of defensive measures like trenches, and when they were then having to rely on their defensive capability later in the war they used bunkers rather than make-shift solutions.

This isn't to say they didn't use them where they had them, but it wasn't their doctrinal method.

The allies on the other hand, particularly the United Kingdom and Commonwealth forces still adhered tightly to earlier doctrines from WW1, and that of consolidating their gains through entrenchment and fortification so that their advances would always allow their supply and logistic support to maintain flow to the front. As such, they planned on using the land they were on itself as their defensive position should a counter strike be forthcoming, and it all too often was.

For now at least, I think that the German forces should be more heavily concentrated on armor and offensive aggressiveness, where as the Allied forces are more maneuverable, flexible, and defensively oriented.

    ⌐_⌐

Sorry, but I'm not a short-order modder, and unfortunately my hands are quite full with numerous projects I'm juggling, among which Ewiger Krieg is just one of them and am actively investigating new horizons for it

It's easy enough to do however, but you'll need to head to:

    forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=191691&highlight=trench
    Link

That specific thread is about giving the slit trench to other races.
