Is your trainer file named a9 or ac9? make sure you disable any and all security apps like antivirus, etc. Try running the game first, starting the level, then ALT+TAB, start trainer, ALT+TAB back to game and press F1 and see if same thing occurs.

If we can't reproduce it and none of the other thousands of members that have downloaded it are having issues, it's hard for us to correct it.

I don't think we have the previous version any more.

It's named a9, the previous one was ac9, tho i don't see how that would be an issue. I've tried running the game, alt tabbing out and restarting the trainer, no dice.

Ah well, if no one else is having an issue then it's obviously on my end somewhere. I'll fiddle somemore and see where i get.

Thanks for your help thus far, much appreciated.

No problem, be sure to let us know if you get it working. Probably some third party program or driver running on your system that's bumping into the trainer's memory space.

RAM be a fickle mistress. One badly coded app/driver/spy/malware can screw up everything. Check your system for spyware, as that's notorious for causing crashes and messing with protected memory.

    Ok, i've worked it out...

Trying to activate the trainer with my firewall open (outpost firewall 4) crashes the game. If i turn off the firewall, activate the trainer, then reopen the firewall... it works fine.

Leads me to believe that the initial F1 'hook' is digging into somewhere the firewall has it's footprint already. Was the initial 'hook' changed between the last version and this version?

same things apply... use the no-cd, disable all antivirus, etc.

    This issue is considered closed.

glad you worked it out Skirakani.

regarding what goes on when F1 is pressed:

the trainer at that point injects a .dll into the gamespace. this .dll is a placeholder for our trainer code. at any rate, some viruses or other malware use this same process maliciously to take control of programs. your firewall/antivirus/antispyware softwares might have hooks in place to detect .dll injection and block it.

if the .dll is not injected, then the game gets redirected to 'nothing' since the .dll is not there. when control of a program's flow is sent to 'nothing' the game will crash.

i posted all this simply to help others who might be having similar problems. always check your virus/firewalls/etc. when trainer crashes on your system at startup-

    best,
    Cal
