I wish to run Assassin's Creed in DirectX 9 under Windows Vista. Looking around on the web, seems the only way is to change the executable "assassinscreed_dx9.exe" to assassinscreed_dx10.exe".
Doing so, I'm unable to use any of the currently available trainers.
I would need the DX9 trainer to recognize the game even under the executable name being now "*_dx10"...
Is there anyway to make it work Caliber? If it can, you'd be the one capable of such skills.
Thanks, JfrancoisP

i see no reason why you can't run assasins creed dx9 under vista.
go to the bin folder and double click the appropriate file (assassinscreed_dx9.exe) and make sure to run the dx-9 version of the trainer
no reason why it shouldn't work-

Try it yourself, even if you load the "_dx9" executable, knowing that my videocard support dx10, it start in dx10 automaticaly.
If you could maybe just had a check box in your dx9 trainer to work even if it's the dx10 appearing in the task, that would be nice.

what i mean is double-click on the actual file
assassinscreed_dx9.exe
instead of the icon on your desktop or the start menu.

I knew what you meant Cal,
Like I'm trying to say... either of those EXE will start the game with the dx10 one.
Doing like you said, the dx9 trainer don't recognize the game, that's how I can tell it's not running dx9 but dx10 even when I ran the dx9 one.
Hopefully I'm clearer this time lol!

Is there a reason why you don't just run it in DX10 with the DX10 trainer? Your video card obviously supports it or else it wouldn't 'default' to that.
I personally am able to run the DX9 exe in Vista and use the DX9 trainer with no problem and I also have a DX10 capable card.

I'm just running the AssassinsCreed_Dx9.exe file from the install folder. Why don't you just delete or rename the _Dx10.exe file to prevent it from being run?
