And yes, I've never been a fan of American motoring shows, hell, even Fifth Gear is better than all of them, combined. And Fifith gear is, well, mediocre, to be polite.
Anyways, I'm really digging the new Gallardo LP-560. Baby Reventons FTW.
But just to be clear I don't like Fifth Gear. It sucks.
The LP560-4 is pretty awesome. Looks really good, but I don't like the Reventon taillights. They look good on the Reventon but they look out of place on the Gallardo. Absolutely love the quad pipes though and everything else about the car is just perfect.
And I've been a new M3, and I just find it too cheesy for some reason. Remember the ****-o-meter in the last TG episode? I finally saw what they meant with that when I rode shotgun.
Also, Audi RS4 FTW. It's still the king of the German fastbacks.
Next up: Audi R8 V10 vs GT-R. That's going to be one hell of a match-up.
Audi RS4 huh? Now that comment wouldn't happen to have anything to do with the fact that you own one now would it? You know, defending your own car and all.
In all seriousness, in the real world I appreciate everyday, practical and fast cars which are subtle and discreet, but have that certain oomph-factor that let you know that you mean business. That's why I'm a huge fan of the M5, and any Audi S/RS model. For me, the Merc C65 AMG is too flash and chinsy, and the M3 is just a little to obviously hardcore for my liking, if you see what I mean.
The RS4 is very subtle, and I love it when people underestimate cars like that, only to find themselves blown away. Many a time me and my dad cruise the streets just for fun, and you would not believe how many fancy-pants wannabe tuners come up to us and challenge us to a simple drag race betweeen lights. The following happens (in sequence):
- wannabe punk challenges us at the lights
- a curt nod, roll up the windows
- press the magical 'S' button
- dip the clutch, build up the revs to 4000
- wait for the light, turns green
- leave the punk in the dark
It's frikking amazing, I can't wait to do that when I'm older.
still...my fav race car is the r34 gtr and as a family car an '80 bmw series or m-series would be my favs
these new cars all brake down after a short while, even the german ones...the most respected car manufacturers like bmw, mercedes-benz and other now make cars that last a few months or even less while an '80 bmw lasts even in the present without any malfunctions
thing is, these new cars all have those electronic devices which i don't think they thought of keeping them away from all the impact shocks that cars do like when the engine is running or when hitting bumps or other. and even worse...to repair these new cars costs almost like the car itself while these old ones are fast repairable and not a headache for a good mechanic to fix them
Would you dad really let you race people like that? My dad complains that I drive to aggressively and keeps telling me I'm going to get speeding tickets.
I get what you're saying but this is how I see it. If anyone gets offended for this I'm not trying to be an jack*ss but don't expect an apology. And this isn't targeted at anyone, just everyone in general who likes these cars.
BMWs, Mercedes', and Audis aren't cheap. You only buy one if you can afford the price tag and the gas bills and all the others stuff. If you buy one and find you can't pay for repairs or gas then I'm sorry that you're stupid enough to buy it in the first place. If you can afford the car then you're not worried about the gas bills or repairs so it won't make any difference. But if you really can't afford those things then that's your own stupid fault.
