I actually don't have a car of my own. I just drive my dad's van wherever I go.

But I'm going to work every summer between school and the money is going into GICs (Guaranteed Investment Certificate). So I'm guaranteed interest on the money. I'm going to put around $6000 a year in there. So by the time I finish 4 years I'll have around $18000 before the interest I earned (That's only 3 summers because the summer after I graduate I won't be getting a summer job, for obvious reasons). Plus if I do masters I'll get another 2 years of money bringing that to $30000 before interest.

With that I'm going to go buy a Certified used Mercedes or Audi. Until then, I live at home during the summer, work at the same place as my dad, and live at school during the year so I don't need a car. But it'll be worth it to have a first car being a used $30000 Benz and maybe even an AMG.

Some of the guys I work with now are telling me I should get a car cheap and stuff like that. But I'm so much into cars that I can't just go and buy some crappy car for little money. I just wouldn't be happy with it.

Plus, why be an engineer if you're not going to buy an expensive car? If I wanted a cheap car, I'd go work at McDonalds.

its ur money anyway i wouldnt let someone tell me wat kind of car to buy, their just telling u that cuz thier not bein smart and investing their money into a nice reliable car like u but what ever car u get u should get it black and invest some money into a nice set of rims and that would be proof that u dont infact work at mcdonalds.

When the time comes I'm just going to buy the car that I like. I'll get it painted after and then buy some nice rims, black chrome preferably.

With used cars you can't really worry about colour since it's not like there's a parking lot full of them with different colours.

I really depends on how much money I have then but with $30000 I could probably get a good used Mercedes-Benz S-Class or Audi A8 or Q7.

And the thing about the people I work with is true. Most of them are much older than me but one of them is my age and is also working there for the summer. He has an old car he got for $1000. But he pays over $350/month on insurance so he doesn't have much net income at the end of the day. His car is like a black hole. Plus it's just a heap of crap anyways. But this one other guy who took Electrical Engineering (but has a low paying job because he doesn't work as an engineer, such a waste of tuition and time) is always talking about small economy cars that cost about $20000. As if I'd EVER buy one of those.

Which one? The old one (1967) or the new one (2006-present)?

The new one shouldn't be too hard to get. Once you can get a dealer to sell you one it's not really all that expensive.

The old one on the other hand, that won't be easy.
