i can't remember wot stuff i used to kill it but i think that is a good weapon and good armour to slay it.

ps. remember to bring lots of potions, mega potions and helpful items with u

It's impossible to say when an equipment is right, it's all about skill, I can kill a G-Rank Azure Rathalos without being hit once, only using my trusty Lacerator Blade.
Just try out different weapons, remember, all of us should go through the process of picking the right weapon and armour for each mission, I know I did, and I learned that Hammers own:
A) Silver Rathalos
B)Gold Rathian
C)Fatalis
D)Lao-Shan
E)Daimyo Hermitaur
F)Shogun Ceanataur

SnS easily kill all Elder Dragons (including Kirin) and Lao-Shan if you have Azure Ogre Sword

DS is really about skills, but they only get useful when you can make G-Rank DS, and then, you can kill Fatalis

Lance, I just suck with them, but I can assure you one thing: They do not kill Rajang in the training school >_>

Gunlance, I just use Gun Charioth against Akantor

GS, for me, the weapon of choice against all monsters, except Kushala Daora (Damn you Wind Barrier!)


Again, I learned this by myself, just make your own chart of weapons to use
