Scientists have only made an estimated guess on how bad the eruption would be. Geologists in the United States predicted a similar scenario in 2001, when they found evidence suggesting volcanic activity in Yellowstone National Park will eventually lead to a massive eruption. About half the United States will probably be covered in ash up to one meter deep. Eruptions of this impact happens about every 600,000 years at Yellowstone, And it's been about 620,000 years since the last mega explosion at Yellow Stone.

let me clear something up.

early in the topic a few members made posts comparing the blast of this volcano and st.helens to nuclear bombs.

do some research on modern nuclear weaponry...your calculations are way, way off.

1 million nukes is enough to destroy the entire planet thousands of times over.

during the peak of the cold war between NATO and the Soviet Union..the two superpowers combined had enough warheads to destroy Earth 30 times over, they had nowhere near 1,000,000 nukes.

if its going off in one spot it does no where near as much damage.

if it was spread out over the world yes it would, but in one spot no.
