If EA refuse to give us cookies, then maybe Wikipedia will.

It's expected that the game will feature a brand new game mechanic and a "Most Wanted-ish" sandbox style of gameplay. An official announcement is expected to be made in the beginning of July at the latest.

    This is indeed very interesting...

EDIT: the above is confirmed. NFS-Planet have found a site that have interviewed John Doyle personally and they have stated a brief portion of the interview.

With NFS Underground the game developed to a series, which is being released every year. Last year EA published Need for Speed ProStreet and for this year we may can expect an announcement of the next NFS game soon.

As Tech2.com reports, they could squeeze some information out of NFS Producer John Doyle:

When asked about the new Need for Speed game, Doyle told me that EA would be making a formal announcement in the next 3-4 months. Even though he didn’t quite come out and say it, he was hinting at the fact that they may go back to the whole Most Wanted-ish sandbox style of gameplay (finally!)

Also expect a brand new game mechanic since Doyle claims that every NFS game out there brings something new to the table. Undergound had the whole tuner scene happening, Most Wanted was just plain awesome, Carbon had Autoscultping and Canyon Duels, while ProStreet was... uhh, crap?

We will see, what the new NFS will bring and if EA will be able to learn from the mistakes in ProStreet.

This is turning out to be an extraordinary turn of events - can NFS XII prove to be the perfect compromise?

"ProStreet was... uhh, crap?"....I'd never expect that.

However, its great to see them look back into the past NFS games and see what ideas they can collect to form NFS XII, it looks like they're taking small info from every series and combining it to make the next NFS extraordinary. Some intense info there, i really wonder what EA would suggest for this next one.

Props to Chingy for the info.

Playing Carbon last had me longing for the return to illegal street racing and police pursuits, done at night. I'd like to see both Darius and Razor make a comeback.

if EA would happen to make the next nfs better than the last one then i hope that they'll make it with lots of features that in the last nfs' hadn't appeared besides the feature that in the last ones were

i personally really like racing games like Juiced and Street Racing Syndicate...old but the theme of those were good...they didn't put body kits that made from one exhaust to two on the car or whether you have a 1 cm wide exhaust tip or a 10 cm wide exhaust tip the performance doesn't change...as if the evacuation gasses would flow through a 1 cm tip as easy as through a 10 cm tip

that's what i'd like to see in the next nfs...more reality, easier gameplay but that doesn't mean the game's AI would be easy to defeat...a bit of challange doesn't hurt

I find the wide bodykits to make the cars awkward as far as handling goes. On PS I often autosculpt the stock body rather than overclad the car with a widebody.
