In your point of view. The painful truth was that about 50% of NFS fans were put off by the new style of racing in NFSU, but this sparked a new generation of fans. ProStreet tried to be a compromise, trying to win back the old generation while maintaining the support of the new generation. Instead it became a hybrid simulation-arcade game that appealed to a very small minority. Hopefully the twelfth installment will be the perfect compromise that EA had promised to the masses over a year ago, and win over all who had, at one point, been a huge fan of the franchsise, for good. This next one has the potential to be a HUGE hit.

For NFS legal street racing is as much a flop as was SUVs in UG2.

Why does it have to be either Underground style or back to basics? Why can't they just find a way to make it both? I've played NFS since the original Hot Pursuit came out and I loved that game. I kept playing it until Underground 2 came out.

The appeal of the true NFS games was that you could get a chance to know what real supercars are like without selling your soul. Then Fast and the Furious started the Underground craze. The appeal was now that you could take normal (on the most part) cars and modify them beyond what would be possible in real life. They tried SUV's but that flopped. The addition of muscle cars was a huge hit in Carbon. Now why not just join all those?

Take the exotics of the true NFS games and don't make any fake stupid looking body kits for them, just stop mods at paint colour and rims. Then take the tuners and add the modifications from Underground 2. Finally, the muscle cars, with their shaker hoods and wheelie bars. Now you have something for everyone; Exotics, Tuners, and Muscle.

I think the tracks also need reworking. The tracks from the true NFS games were very well made. They were all unique and fun to race on. Free roam might be cool but it doesn't make the game better, there's nothing useful involved with the free roam. EA really needs to make things more interesting, the races in Pro Street offer no danger besides some damage to your car. The illegal racing games had no danger whatsoever as the cars were indestructible and the racing was much too easy. They need to make tracks like they used to and for once give us a real challenge.

As far as pursuits go, maybe bring back the original hot pursuit style where you could also be a cop.

The problem that EA has is they try too hard to impress. Don't just cram features into the game (SUVs, 10 star rating), make them fit into the story so they are actually worthwhile additions to the game.
I don't want a big car, particularly. I have no need for acreage, and I don't like the fuel bills. But I don't want a small one because they're all like supermarket own-brand cola: weedy imitations of the real thing - Jeremy Clarkson

Hot Pursuit was cool and fun, until Underground came in and introduced the world of Urban Street racing, and damn, what fun! An addiction and craving for more. UG2 came in and man it was really exciting. Along came Most Wanted, with an exciting story, bosses you'd love to kill, challenging races, intense cop pursuits, and damn, life couldn't be more fun. In comes Carbon, introducing night pursuits, night racing, sleazy bosses, decent story, and a new fun tool, autosculpt. Oh,paradise on earth! That's where the fun and excitement ended. It was to be the end of illegal street racing, and it was...Prostreet came in on the wings of hype, making a pathetic attempt at legalized racing.

Over-exaggeration. SUVs were clearly an after-thought in NFSU2, whereas legal street racing clearly has some meaning to it, and it has appealed to some. SUVs were a bad idea through and through, and as a result nobody could really give a damn about them.

@SS89: I'm with ya. That should be the foundations of which all NFS games in the future are based on. I did mention a compromise, IIRC.

Legal street racing is best left to those specializing in simulation racing, such as the brains behind G2R,and all the other simulations. Far as I know,NFS is arcade. Stick to what you're good at.
