I think the sword is better because it takes more skill to use and it looks cooler.

gravity hammer. area affect which is really good against Flood especially in groups, or shud i say mobs.

I'll admit, it is very good against the flood, especially the little onion b s. I have a friend who whenever he swings the grav hammer he yells "Repent!" His name is ShadowGunner.
