OKAY IM PLAYIN ON PSP BUT I DONT THINK ITS MUCH DIFFERENT . IM AT GYSER PLAIN OR WATEVER AND IM AT THE HOT SPRING ROCK IT WILL NOT LET ME DO ANYTHING WHEN I HIT INSPECT SO I D K , ALSO WHEN IM AT THE ANCIENT DOOR IN GYSER PLAINS AND I TRY TO INSPECT THE DOOR IT DONT DO NOTHIN EITHER IS THERE A CERTAIN TOOL OR SUMTHING THAT I NEED , IM REALLLY STUCK AND NEED HELP. . . . . . .

i played it on ps2 but i think your right it shouldn't be that different.
On the geyser plain rock you have to have a hammer and chisel in your inventory then when you go to the rock you should get it out and use it on the rock as though to inspect it. It's a bit tricky though as you have to stand in a certain position not too close to the rock. The doors wont open until you have all the heiroglyph pieces you go onto the hardwood bench and turn them into a steele which you use to open the door

right. wat u do is u zoom out using the right analog stick and see the gieser, and u will see a giant boulder sitting on a ledge by the gieser. go up the hill and examine the rock. You will then push the boulder down, blocking the gieser and you can pass through to the volcano overlook. YAY!!! U DID IT!!!
