The first game I ever played was also a NFS game. Need For Speed Hot Pursuit (the original one, not the second one) and i absolutely loved it. I played it so much and smoked everyone I knew. They would all go for the pure power of the Lamborghini Diablo SV and get really mad when I beat them in a Ferrari 575 Maranello because the Ferrari could take turns much faster. After that I bough Underground 2, Most Wanted, and Carbon. I bought Pro Street because I saw the brand as the best of the best. Pro Street wasn't as good as it could have been so my next NFS purchase will have to be because of quality and not brand recognition.
I never buy a game on release day though. I don't care how good it is, I am NEVER going to sit outside a Best Buy for 6 hours just to get a piece of plastic with some code on it. I bought GTS San Andreas a week after it came out, which as happen to be the last day of school before the summer. I even waited a whole week to buy Halo 3. I just don't see games as important enough to do that.

Agreed, it is a bit sad to buy it on release day. But for me, NFS games are the exception. Always luv em, always will. And personally, if anyone gave me the choice of buying any game in the world for the next generation of consoles (after 360, PS3 and Wii), I'd pick the NFS released at that time. EA have had their faults in the past, and I personally regard Hot Pursuit 2 as flawless. It was my first game for PS2, and I remember staying up as far as 3AM just to play it. It was superb.
The underground series was very cool at the time of launch, what with the hype of F+F all around. The customization and tuner scene was very interesting, but they kept in the basic, idiot-proof storyline of the NFS games, so it was still related to its predecessors apart from the brand name. Looking back, I wouldn't regard them as the best games ever but EA certainly took a risk, and boy, did they get the rewards.

Ya, EA really did start a revolution with the Underground series. There are so many attempts at copying NFS, and most of them just suck, like Street Race Syndicate. Even simulation games like Forza have options to modify the cars.
As far as next generation consoles go, my top game picks would have to be:
1 - Halo, I know there won't be a Halo 4 but there will be other Halo games that follow different story paths 2 - Grand Theft Auto, the single greatest gaming franchise ever in my books. Only loses out to Halo for lack of replay value. 3 - Used to be NFS, Now it really depends on how good Midnight Club Los Angeles is and what path EA takes on their next NFS. After playing Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, I have very high hopes from Rockstar.
