I just got AR as well. It has put a strange symbol near one item close to the end of my item box and now I can't get any items below that strange symbol. Not sure which code did that, but that is the only bad experience I have had with it so far. Now I have all the pokemon in the pokedex, I can breathe a sigh of relief that I "got them all". I even caught a shiny red gyarados with the AR. Could have not done that without AR !

so its basically safe then? also what about the codes, meaning there's 4 or 5 different wild pokemon modifiers on different sites for the same pokemon, are they all valid somehow or will some mess up my system?

the AR is safe as long as u don't put a messed up cheat. if u do then don't save and turn the DS off

An emulator is a program you can download for the computer which simulates a GBA, and then you download ROMS which are the game cartridges/discs. You can then play it like the real thing, and most emulators have built in AR's and Gamesharks etc. and you can test codes in them.
However, there are a few legal things you must know: 1. You must own an orignal copy of the game and the GBA 2. You may only keep the download for twenty four hours, then you should delete it 3. You cannot make money out of this, so dont sell ROMs or anything. (some people will charge for emulators, but thats their hard work so fair enough)
