I figured as much when you said it was $80,000. Just wondering, is any of that put towards making it faster or is it purely show? Theres nothing I hate more than a show car with a fiberglass interior and hundreds of speakers and monitors.

well, they don't host the Pimp My Ride show for nothing though...

all those rides that u see with all those 11 inch speakers, shiny reflective wheels & LCD screens are mainly just for show & not go. it's meant to turn heads, not to break records or sumthing like that...

for me, i would rather splurge my $$$ on a decent body kit, a couple of modifications & a new paint job, preferably a metallic gun grey metal paint. i'm aiming my sights on a Skyline R-34 once i get my driver's license

You're lucky you live in Asia then, because there's no way you'd find a Skyline of any type here in North America that someone who just got their license could justify buying. They're rare, expensive, and ridiculously fast.

Pimp my Ride is the WORST SHOW EVER!!! A bunch of posers that don't know the first thing about modifying a car let alone a TV quality one. I'm not really into making record breaking cars, but I just don't like going overboard with an interior like most show cars. I wouldn't mind a small TV screen hooked up to an X-Box but not half a dozen of them. As far as I'm concerned if you can't drive it everyday afterwards, then you just wasted a car that someone else could have used properly. Especially since the old Japanese classics aren't made anymore and just get harder and harder to find.

I can understand the turning heads part though, I mean a GMC Yukon with 26's looks pretty sweet. But I'm the kind that would rather turns heads by speeding by people and almost being out of sight by the time they look. I'd spend my money on a body kit, rims and tires, aluminum/carbon spoiler and then some performance mods like an air intake, catback exhaust and ECU flash.

My Supra has seriously amped performance, but not enough to break any records. The car is mostly for show. When I got it I never planned on racing it. I'm getting to old for that crazy stuff. Time to settle down.

even in Asia, car fanatics modify their to the point whereby i don't even know where 2 start...

about getting tuners into the States, i've heard u gotta import it over from Asia & convert it to left-hand drive & it costs a bomb just 2 do that. my other uncle who lives in San Francisco owns a Nissan 240SX just happens to be a dentist so i think he treats this kind of cost as almost nothing

he even offered me to move in with him when i complete my National Service in the Army...

We have lots of Tuners in the USA and we can get them easy and cheap, unless they are modified, that can cost a bunch. What we would have a tough time getting is cars like Skyline and Sylvia. No problems getting most any other Tuners...Supra,Eclipse,Evo,240SX,3000GT,RSX,Integra,etc,are very obtainable in the United States and reasonably priced, provided they aren't modified. Modded Tuners can be expensive. We don't have to import Tuners to get them in the states. We already have multitudes of them. Every year in my town, for 3 days,we have an event called "Slammin' And Jammin",which is a Tuner car show. Thousands of Tuners are entered in the event. Rebel I don't know where you got your info, but its very much untrue.

I live in Canada but even here you are allowed to drive right hand drive. But you do have to make certain modifications to make it legal in Canada, a speedometer in KPH instead of MPH for example and certain safety things. But it mainly depends on what car you're trying to get.

But there are plenty of tuners here also. Supras aren't as popular here for some reason but we have Eclipses, 240SX's, RSX's, Intergra's, STi's, Silvia's are rare but I've seen some. The EVO's were never sold here so you had to get them from the States if you wanted one, they didn't meet Canadian safety standards apparently. The tuners you'll probably never see in Canada are the Skyline and RX-7. There are plenty of tuners here but I'm not into the common ones like the Civic and Integra. I prefer the more hard core ones . . . which unfortunately are hard to find in Canada, so I'll probably be doing some cross border shopping when it's time to get a car.

Wow, im in Aus and we are a completely metric, RHD country

all we need to drive an american car is a HUGE sticker on the back windscreen that says CAUTION LEFT HAND DRIVE and a sticker on the speedo that shows KPH instead of MPH

Rebel talked like 240SXs are expensive cars, owned by the wealthy. Very much untrue in the USA. You can buy a 240SX for 2 or 3 thousand dollars. 240 is probably the cheapest Tuner you can buy. Civics and Eclipses are also cheap. We have a car lot that sells nothing but modded Civics. Beautiful cars with ridiculously low prices...$4,000.00 to $6,000.00. 3000GTs usually sell for $3,000.00. Tuners are very common in the USA and reasonably priced.
