Actually the only cars that need special tuning are the ones you use for drags and speed challenges. The grip and drift cars will do fine with the packages,no need for special tuning them.

On the contrary, every race mode can benefit from specialized tuning. It's just getting up and being bothered to twiddle around with it that's hard. Each and every car can be improved, and each race differs. The amount of corners, and the nature of the corners varies every single time you race. Remember - corners and races are like fingerprints - no two are alike. So treat every single one like it's the first corner in an F1 race. Crucially and decisively.

I disagree. A truly skilled driver doesn't need to hone every nook and cranny. On my speed, drift, and grip cars I slap on the packages, hit the asphault and whoop ass. Yo,skill is king. A perfectly tuned, lightning fast car is worthless in the control of a careless, haphazard, unskilled, undisciplined driver. Skill gets it done, won, and over with.

As a motorsport driver, I am laying it down that this is untrue. Any average joe can just drive, and drive well, but what separates the masters from joy-riders is this ability and knowledge to hone and tune your car. For example, F1 isn't just 4 wheels, a light body, a driver, a steering wheel and one huge-ass engine. It's a complicated algorithm of fine-tuning and constant adjustments to find the optimum balance and peak performance. Tuning is as intensive as driving the car itself. Granted, it's not as important, but it is essential for that extra key edge in a race.

Of course you'd hone, tune, and tweak every aspect of a real race car,but on game it isn't needed. You can win without a totally perfected car.

Agreed, but there's no denying that it gives you that extra edge.

Yes,it does give you that extra edge, but not everyone is skilled in tuning their cars. Those drivers can win with unperfected cars. Really, all they need is the packages and boosts high. Drag cars on the otherhand, need to be level 4,boosts high, all gears tall.

its all about custom tuning if you do it right then you can have anything from an evo 9 to a lp640 pushing 900 to 1200 bhp no one can catch you unless they are good at tuning too perfect tire pressure and suspension softness is the key to great handling
"But wait." You say, "I saw Sgt. Johnson die twice now already. What's up with that?"

Well, think of Sgt. Johnson as being like Kenny from South Park. No matter how many times he dies he'll always come back. Why? Well, it's complicated.
