If it takes a group of four men, in 78 degree whether from 12:00 noon to 1:30PM to dig a hole 6FT deep, how long does it take them to dig half a hole? (3 points)

Probably about a third of the time because the lower you dig the more time it takes. I'd say 2/3 of the time was used digging the last three feet.

I just spit-balling here.

Unless I have completely missed the gist of the question, which is quite likely.
