ya ive beat tha game many times now and i gotta say its a pretty sweet game. SPOILER ALERT!!!!! now

Well she may have thought...I don't know.

Since they didn't make it through the portal...they should be close to the destroyed Ark (Installation 00) and the destroyed Halo ring that was being built.

I think that a smart AI like Cortana might just possibly be able to figure out that whether they had made it through the portal or not

Although, at the same time in the video it does look like the front of the ship has been cut off... Which means that unless it backed into the portal, they can't have made it through:s

Also, if they were near the destroyed ark/halo wouldn't there be A LOT of space debris?

she knew they didn't make it through the portal, she didn't know if arby did.

Some say that cortana was corupted by gravemind and is now only part-cortana, leaving the corrupted side back on high charity. Some also say this may change the "seven year lifespan" rule. Others say she was showing signs of rampancy in halo 1.

both sides have facts to back them up, either way I hope we see cortana again, shes easily one of the deepest (if not the deepest) characters in the halo games.

Well they're not in slip space...and they're not next to Earth.

No, she clearly states that they did make it through the portal, not that they didn't. She said that the Arbiter didn't. Well, implied it.

Thats means they were left near the Ark and the Halo as it was destroyed. The Arbiter made it through, as the other half of the ship was cut off.

So when the portal lifted, they were blasted off by the explosion foreward, toward the Milky Way.

The scene after the credits where theyre shown drifting towards the planet could be so many years after 2553.
