well if you have mining point 2* then just keep mining at koto farm that should give you super nova crystal or do a high rank gypceros in gathering hall, for instance capture the gypceros it gives it to ya too but really hard like only i think 4% chance. As for four horns i ll bring up the the topic for you

Ok i cant seem to find it so i ll tell you. before the quest here are the things you need to bring.
Items: 1 10 mega potions 2 23 lifepowder 3 1-2 mega juices 4 2 max potions 5 And ammo
As i suggested on the items one of them is ammo cuz guns are the most sufficient way to kill these guys use uranos gernade or uranos gernade+ this come from black gravious and is one of my favorite weopons. bring wyvern fangs , wyvern claws , bomb arrowanna , and scatter fish , these puppies make lv. 3 ammo like crag 3 and clust 3. also bring pierce 2 and pierce 3 these kill them really effectively. so there you go , im not really going to go into more detail so if ya want more look for the topic "Four Horns" i know i brought it up before. good luck !

And to answer your armor question yes there is upgrade to the rathalos armor , its rathalos armor S and you dont get this till you rank 4 in gathering hall so your probably out of luck , sorry

Im sorry forgot what armor you need. use rathalos soul cap, rathalos soul vest , black belt vembraces, velociprey tesset , and blue pants. Gives you tracking so you know where there at at all times and it gives you ear plugs so your uneffected by there screams. so there you go !
