Pokemon Silver/Gold Message Board  

Does anyone know how to catch celebi in pokemon silver? I have 250 pokemons in my pokemon silver pokedex, celebi is the only pokemon I need to complete the game. I beleive there must be a way of catching celebi, either in the game or with a gameshark. If there were 151 pokemons in pokemon R/B/G, there must be 251 in pokemon G/S.

I've heard of cheats about a GS ball placing it in the Ilex Forest Shrine. That sounds like a good cheat to me. The Shrine is in honor of the forest protector, the forest protector is a grass type pokemon. That pokemon must be celebi. U either catch it with a cheat or with a gameshark, or maybe only in a Nintendo event, but the shrine is there and there must be a way to catch it. I've seen images of catching it in the Ilex Forest Shrine...

The Shrine trick only works with the Japanese version of the game.
The only way to get it is through a Gameshark/Action Replay or Codebreaker cheat, or go to a real life Nintendo Event.

I dont know where you could get a Gameshark/Action Replay since you live in a different country.
When you enter the code simply walk into the grass and the first pokemon you encounter should be Celebi, and then you catch it.
Whatever you do, don't save the game while the code is enabled.

At this point, I bet the only way of getting a Gameshark for game boy color is through the Internet.

What do u mean? after I enter the code I'm only gonna be encountering celebis? what about the rest of pokemons in the grass? what happens if I save while the code is enabled? why I can't save? when do I have to save then?

You're probably right about the internet, check on ebay or something.

After you enter the code you will only encounter Celebi's if it is enabled. In your Gameshark there is an option to disable codes. So disable the code after catching Celebi and then you can save. If you save while the code is enabled it could delete all or saved data, permanently ruin the game play, all sorts of things like that. Also, don't have more than one code enabled unless it says you can, otherwise the game will screw up. I suggest saving before entering codes in case something goes wrong then you may be able to just load that instead.
