LastRequest and DR, both of you have very valid points. I got halo 1 when it came out with the xbox and I was very young. Never have I cared about the storyline even to this day. The second I got halo 2(stayed home from school that day it came out) I went right into matchmaking. I still have not finished halo 2's like 4th level. Story is rarely a thing that pushes me forward in a game. Even on legendary I can't find NPCs that much of a challenge, they are nothing more than programs...their actions can be predicted. Online anything and everything can and will happen. In Halo 3 I am looking more forward to gameplay than the finishing the fight experience I guess you could say.

All the kids at my school who are casual gamers, don't have XBL and could care less about the story or online. Yet everyone is still so hyped up for this game. You have to admit it is a little overated...the local multiplayer never gets old though with some good friends.

if you know the end there is no point in buying the game

half the fun is the storyline

Well I actually NOW classify the success and hype of Halo 3 as half epic storyline and half insane multiplayer.

I bought Halo 2 because of the storyline (didn't have Live back then) and now I am buying Halo 3 for both.

If I didn't have live or if Halo 3 didn't have MP...I would still buy it.

yep, i bought halo2 for the storyline as well and now im buying 3 for both

At first i bought halo 1 because it was an awesome game but i had only played it on multiplayer but once i started playing campaign the story made it even better.Same with halo 2 and now i am going to buy a 360 and then get live so i can play Halo 3 and play it online.
