Obtain someones FC and register it in Pal Pad, then, go on WiFi and if any friends are on, they will show up on screen.

That is corret. My friiend need wireless. Well you can buy an Nintendo Wii-fi connector, connects to the USB port. And comes w/ a disc to set it up for wi-ffi.
